Project Pages: ARP Intentional Systems Project

A subproject being conducted under Texas ARP grant, as well as with support from the TAMUC Department of Computer Science. The Vex kit is a modular robot building kit, similar in idea to the Lego Mindstorm robot kits, but based on metal composable parts similar to erector set components. We use the kits for education and for experiments in evolutionary robotics and active perctption. The modular nature of the kits allows us to flexibly explore morphological space of sensor positioning, and its relation to active perception models of behavior. A current aim is to integrate a CMUCam with the Vex PIC microcontroller to conduct research with active vision perception.
